KEGIATAN 2020

1 Januari 2020, seluruh sivitas akademika Program Studi Magister Penciptaan dan Pengkajian Seni, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara Medan, mengucapkan: "Selamat Tahun Baru 2020, semoga kita semua semakin berjaya pada tahun ini."

Jumat, 10 Januari 2020, mengawali kegiatan akademik tahun 2020 ini, kelas mata kuliah Penciptaan Seni III,  serta Teori dan Metode Penciptaan Seni menyelenggarakan Ujian Akhir Semester, yang salah satunya adalah pertunjukan karya seni. Kegiatan ini diselenggarakan di Pendopo Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, USU, mulai jam 14-00 sampai 17.00 WIB. Pada kegiatan ini disajikan empat karya seni pertunjukan (teater, musik, dan tari): (1) "Dalan Mnuju Huta" karya Marojahan A. Manalu, (2) "Tonggo Marsada" karya Perry Sagala, (3) "Pardalanan" karya Gopas Valentino, dan (4) "Tiupan Sangkalkala" karya Ande Sebayang. Acara ini dihadiri segenap sivitas akademika MPPSn FIB USU, dan dibuka oleh Sekprodi, Drs. Torang Naiborhu, M.Hum.

​9-10 Januari 2020, Kaprodi MPPSn FIB USU bertugas ,menyusun borang Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SMPTN), yang dilaksanakan oleh Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan melalui Lembaga Tes Masuk Perguruan Tinggi (LTMPT). Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Hotel Eastparc Yogyakarta.

16 Januari 2020, etnomusikolog dunia, Bruno Nettl meninggal dunia. Seluruh sivitas akademika Program Studi Magister Penciptaan dan Pengkajian Seni serta Etnomusikologi, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara Medan mengucapkan: Turut berduka cita. Semoga ilmu yang ditebarkan Bruno Nedttl selama hidupnya dapat menjadi dasar dalam melangsungkan peradaban manusia di selirih dunia dan menjadi dasar pengembangan disiplin etnomusikologi ke masa depan."

17 Januari 2020, Program Studi Magister Penciptaan dan Pengkajian Seni, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara menyelenggarakan Ujian Penciptaan Seni I terhadap tiga mahasiswanya. Yang pertama adalah Sheila Mahal dengan karya seni rupa yang bertajuk "Kampak Belah Kayu." Yang kedua, Gefryano Ishak  P. Manurung dengan karya musiknya "Noah." Yang ketiga Ramot Pardede dengan karya musik yang bertajuk "Mangandung Jenazah."

Bruno Nettl (1930–2020) Wednesday, January 22, 2020   (0 Comments) Posted by: Stephen Stuempfle Share| ​When Bruno Nettl passed away in the early hours of January 15, 2020, the Society for Ethnomusicology lost one of its truly towering figures. The modern history of our field parallels the life of this remarkable ethnomusicologist, who was present at the very founding of SEM and who was equally present at the SEM annual meeting at Indiana University in November 2019, when he spoke with eloquence and wisdom about the very core of the field’s values on a panel of assembled SEM Past Presidents. Bruno spoke often about the ways in which SEM was his intellectual lodestar, remarking frequently as he moved between scholars young, old, and every age in-between at SEM meetings that “this is my crowd, where I’m really among friends.” Bruno Nettl was born in Prague, in then-Czechoslovakia, on March 14, 1930, the son of the historical musicologist Paul Nettl and the distinguished pianist Gertrud Hutter Nettl. In 1939, his immediate family fled German-occupied Prague because of their Jewish heritage, first finding refuge in Princeton, New Jersey, where his father would teach at Westminster Choir College, before moving with the family to Bloomington, Indiana, where Bruno would later study and receive his Ph.D. from Indiana University in 1953. From Bloomington, he moved to Detroit, where he would teach at Wayne State University and serve as Music Librarian until 1964, interrupted only by a two-year Fulbright lectureship at the University of Kiel in Germany. In 1964, he began his teaching career in ethnomusicology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he remained until his death, still fully engaged with the university as Emeritus Professor of Music and Anthropology. Dedicated as he was to the University of Illinois, Bruno would enjoy visiting positions of every kind at colleges and universities throughout North America and the world, often at the invitation of his many former students, who turned to Bruno when establishing and shaping ethnomusicology’s foundation for the first time at their own institutions. The full range of his influence as a teacher and by extension as a scholar who tirelessly collaborated with others is comprehensible only by examining the growth of our field worldwide during the past half-century. It was but one measure of such influence that Bruno would receive honorary doctorates from the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois, Carleton College, and Kenyon College. Two Festschriften honored him, Ethnomusicology and Modern Music History and This Thing Called Music. Bruno’s many other honors are too numerous to mention here, and yet it should be noted that many of these resulted from the intellectual contributions that accompanied his service to the field of ethnomusicology and the SEM. Among these was the 2012 Charles Homer Haskins Prize of the American Council of Learned Societies, for which the nomination emanated directly from the SEM. ​

​It is equally impossible fully to assess the extent of Bruno’s scholarship and the impact it has had on music scholars and scholarship throughout the world. Students and scholars everywhere read his work early and often in their careers, and they turn to his ideas and publications when teaching courses general and specific. Who but Bruno would have written the entry on “Music” in The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians? Who but Bruno could undertake research projects across the globe—among North American Indigenous peoples, classical musics in Iran and India, folk and vernacular musics in rural Europe and the world’s great cities—while at the same turning to the subjects and musicians close at hand in his own backyard, in books such as Heartland Excursions? Such questions are not merely rhetorical, for there are answers to them, which lie in the subjects of Bruno’s major contributions to the theory and methods with which ethnomusicologists endeavor to understand the world: the three editions of The Study of Ethnomusicology, edited volumes such as Comparative Musicology and Anthropology of Music, and the many issues of Ethnomusicology that he curated during his two editorships of SEM’s journal. To know Bruno Nettl as a scholar, teacher, and friend was also to recognize the remarkable presence of his family in all he accomplished, but also in the very intimacy of his approach to the field of ethnomusicology. Bruno’s wife of sixty-seven years, Wanda, stood at his side no less as he pursued fieldwork and made marzipan for his students, and all recognize Wanda’s presence in the dedications to her that open Bruno’s books, their shared eponymous role for the Bruno and Wanda Nettl Lecture series, in the artwork that graces the covers of his books, and Bruno’s loving tribute in the final months of his life, when he stewarded the publication of Wanda Nettl, Artist. Bruno is survived by Wanda, by his daughters, Rebecca Nettl-Fiol and Gloria Roubal, and by an extended family of in-laws and grandchildren, among them Stefan Fiol. Almost any account of Bruno Nettl’s influence on our field will necessarily fall short, but I should like to close this brief obituary with one more, a line from the letter I wrote on behalf of the SEM when it successfully nominated Bruno for the 2012 ACLS Haskins Prize: “Because of Prof. Nettl’s career, because of his influential scholarship, and because of the generations of mentored students across the disciplines—because of Bruno Nettl—‘music’ in the twenty-first century has more meaning in the lives of the many.” - Philip V. Jumat, 24 Januari 2020, Kaprodi MPPSn bersama Prof. Drs. Mauly Purba, M.A., Ph.D. mempresentasikan makalah yang bertajuk "Digitalisasi Data Lapangan" pada Seminar Seni dan Teknologi, yang diselenggarakan oleh Institut Kesenian Jakaarta. Selain keduanya hadir pula narasumber lain yakni Dr. Sadjuga, M.Sc. sebagai Direktorat Pengelolaan Kekayaan Intelektual Kemenristek Dikti dengan makalahnya "Portofolio Dosen Pendidikan Tinggi Seni Beebasis Kekayaan Intelektual." Kemudian Jabatin Bangun, M.Sn. dengan makalahnya  "Budaya Takbenda Konvensi 2003 UNESCO." Ratih Gita Astari "RISPRO Introduction" dan Dr. Ni Made Ruastiti, dengan makalah yang berjudul "Proposal dan Aspek Penilaian RISPRO."

​Sabtu, 25 Januari 2020, Masyarakat Etnomusikologi Indonesia mengadakat Forum Group Discussion (FGD) mengenai sertifikasi dan penerbitan Jurnal Etnomusikologi Indonesia (JEI). Kegiatan FGD ini dilaksanakan di Ruang Rapat Biro Rektor, Institut Kesenian Jakarta. Hadir dalam kegiatan ini dua orang dosen Prodi Etnomusikologi FIB USU, yakni Muhammad Takari dan Mauly Purba. Selain itu hadir peserta tuan rumah yakni IKJ, Esther Siagian, Cerman Simamora, Jabatin Bangun Anusirwan, juga utusan dari Prodi Etnomusikologi FIB Mulawarman Asril Muchtar dan Yofi. Demikian pula utusan dari Prodi Etnomusikologi, FSP ISI Yogyakarta Ela Yuaeliah dan Sukotjo. Keputusan FGD adalah sertifikasi akan dilakukan oleh lembaga ini dalam bentuk ijazah dan juga SKPI. Jurnal diterbitkan dua kali dalam setahun, dengan menyiapkan empat nomor perdana, untuk kemudian diurus ISSN-nya.

30 Januari sampai 1 Februari 2020, Kaprodi MPPSn FIB USU, yang juga sebagai tim penyusun materi ujian protofolio bidang seni dan olahraga pada LTMPT Kemendikbud RI, melaksanakan tugasnya bersama tim di Hotel Sultan Jakarta Pusat. Kehiatan ini adalah rangkaian dari penerimaan mahasiswa bari di PT-PT yang memiliki prodi seni dan olahraga pada Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri.

Sabtu, 1 Februari 2020, Fakultas Ulmu Budaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara Medan, menyelenggarakan Rapat Kerja Fakultas untuk tahun 2020. Rapat ini diselenggarakan di Panvur Gading Hotel Karo. Hadir dalam kegiatan tersebut Dekan FIB USU, Wakil-wakil Dekan, para Ketua dan Sekretaris Program Srudi di Lingkungan FIB, serta dosen dan tenaga kependidikan. Selain merencanakan program kerja tahun ini, kegiatan rapat ini juga sebagai upaya FIB untuk menjalin silaturahmi antar segenap sisitas akademika FIB USU. Hadir dalam kegiatan tersebut Sekretaris Program Studi Magister Penciptaan dan Pengkajian Seni FIB USU, Drs. Torang Naiborhu, M.Hum.

Senin, 9 Maret 2020, Program Studi Magister Penciptaan dan Pengkajian Seni, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara Medan, menyelenggarakan Ujian Kolokium Penciptaan atas nama Perri Sagala dan Pengkajian Seni atas nama Dahlia. Perri Sagala mengajukan proposal penelitian untuk penciptaan yang berjudul "Tortor Tonggo Pangurason: Dari Ritual ke Seni Pertunjukan." Di sisi lain, Dahlia mengajukan proyek penelitian untuk tesisnya berjudul "Tari Pertunjukan Rabbani Wahid dalam Masyarakat Samalanga: Kajian Fungsi, Makna, dan Perubahan." Tim penguji dan pembimbing adalah: Drs. Muhammad Takari, M.Hum., Ph.D.; Drs. Torang Naiborhu, M.Hum.; Dr. Dardanilla, M.Hum.; Dr. Rohani Ganie, M.Hum.; Dr. Pulumun P. Ginting, S.Sn., M.Sn.; Drs. Kumalo Tarigan, M.A., Ph.D.; Prof. Dr. Robert Sibarani. M.S.; dan Dr. Ridwan Hanafiah, M.A. Kedua proposal dalam ujian kolokium ini dinyatakan diterima.

10 Maret 2020. Kaprodi MPPSn FIB USU, Muhammad Takari yang juga sebagai Sekretaris Umum Pengurus Besar Majelis Adat Budaya Melayu Indonesia (PB MABMI)  beserta Ketum PB MABMI (Dato' Seri H. Syamsul Arifin, S.E.) beserta beberapa Pengirus PB MABMI. di antaranya T. Danil Mozart, Asrin Naim, Syahril Tambusai, Datuk Adul Freddy Haberham, Milhan Yusuf, menerima kunjungan silaturahmi 17 Ormas Melayu Sumatera Utara. Materi yang dikaji bersama adalah situasi masyarakat Melayu umumnya masa kini dan menghadapi situasi masa depan, termasukm situasi politik dunia, Indonesia, dan Sumatera Utara.

10 Maret 2020, salah seorang dosen Program Studi Magister Penciptaan dan Pengkajian Seni, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara Medan, yakni Dr. Dardanila, M.Hum., menghadiri Seminar Nasional Merdeka Belajar dalam Mencapai Indonesia Maju 2045, di Fedung Dewi Sartika, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Hadir juga dua dosen FIB USU, yakni Dr. T. Thyrhaya dan Dr. Hariadi Susilo.

10 Maret 2020, Kaprodi dan Sekprodi MPPSn Fakultas Ilmu Budaya., Universitas Sumatera Utara Medan, mengikuti kegiatan Evaluasi Mahasiswa D3, S1, S2, dan S3 seluruh USU, yang dipimpin Wakil; Rektor I USU, Prof. Dr. Rosmayati, bertempat di Ryang Senat Akademik Biro Rektor USU Medan.

Sabtu, 14 Maret 2020, Kaprodi Magister Penciptaan dan Pengkajian Seni, Fakultas Ilmu Budaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara, dengan kapasitasnya sebagai Sekretaris Umum Pengurus Besar Majelis Adat Budaya Melayu Indonesia (PB MABMI) membuka dan mengikuti Rapat Kerja Daerah PD MABMI Tanjungbalai, yang menghasilkan beberapa rekomendasi kegiatan untuk empat tahun mendatang. Ada tiga bidang yang diwakili oleh tiga komisi, yakni keorganisasian, kegiatan, dan rekomendasi. Hadir dalam kegiatan ini beberapa pengurus PB MABMI, Ketua PD MABMI Tanjungbalai Ibu Hj. Delima, S.Pd., M.M., walikota Tanjungbalai yang diwakili staf ahli Raja Haslima, S.Pd., M.M. dan segenap Pengurus PD MABMI Tanjungbalai.
